Freight keeps industry moving. And it's up to rail operators like Norfolk Southern to keep it moving safely. That's why every year their Operation Awareness & Response crew makes stops all along their tracks to give local first responders hands-on training. We saw this program as an opportunity to celebrate these towns and the hardworking people who live in them.

This website was our roadmap for earned media. It showed reporters, policymakers, and everyone else what thousands of Norfolk Southern employees do to keep their communities going strong.

I put on a pair of steel toe boots and visited a rail yard, I researched the histories of the different train towns, I concepted and pitched a web experience, and then I wrote everything.
